I have a love for embedded systems, PIC micro controllers, Arduino, Raspberry.pi and free and open source software. Currently a proud user of <a href=\"https:\/\/.manjaro.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manjaro\/GNU Linux<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I am an infrequent poster on <a href=\"https:\/\/floss.social\/@gregsie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mastodon<\/a> and you can see my posts there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My workflow and software stack consists of the following brilliant FOSS applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/arduino.cc\">Arduino<\/a> IDE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kicad.org\">KiCad<\/a> EDA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pasmo.speccy.org\/\">Pasmo<\/a> Z80 compiler<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cpanel web hosting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/freetubeapp.io\/\">FreeTube<\/a> as a more privacy respecting Youtube Client<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/keepassxc.org\/\">KeePassXC <\/a>Password Manager<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MPLab IDE &#8211; Although it doesn&#8217;t respect all 4 software freedoms, I don&#8217;t currently have another option to generate and simulate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microchip.com\/en-us\/products\/microcontrollers-and-microprocessors\">Microchip architecture<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The equations used on the site are from the brilliant on-line LaTeX editor from&nbsp;<a title=\"LaTeX\" href=\"http:\/\/www.codecogs.com\/latex\/eqneditor.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online LaTeX editor<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schematics from May 2014 onwards have been created in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kicad.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KiCad EDA Design<\/a>\u00a0freeware version<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the code samples that I post to this blog are licensed under the GPLVersion3 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnu.org\/licenses\/gpl-3.0.html\">GPL Public License<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A UK Chartered Electronics Engineer who retired from roles working in IT and Project Management in April 2025.
